Kenny Shibambu, a music minister, hails from Limpopo in a small township Nkowankowa near Tzaneen in South Africa. He is the lead pastor at Ultimate Life Church in Tzaneen which is in Limpopo, South Africa. He is the managing director of To The Throne Music Productions as well as the Founder and director of the phenomenal GO Explo. This is a multi-awards winning group that he directs and produced. He is such a talent being a music composer, arranger and producer on one hand and an accomplished singer who loves worship as well. He takes music seriously as a ministry, so much that he sings what he lives and lives what he sings.

By the time he was out of kindergarten, he was singing and playing an accordion at church. His love for music was inherited from his mother who was a school choir conductor. Kenny took part in choir singing for the better part of his schooling. While at the college of education where he trained as a teacher, he scooped the best awards of being a tenor soloist. When he started teaching at Giyani High School in 1986, he became a choir conductor where he won major singing competitions both at regional and provincial level. His music life continued as he went to Lemana College of Education as a music lecturer. He was later recruited to Tivumbeni College of Education, as a music lecturer where he was an educating teacher in the area of music. He also trained the choir which won major provincial and national singing competitions. He has been an adjudicator in many music competitions as well as facilitator of workshops. He served in different music structures which were government’s initiatives and his valuable contributions are priceless. He became chairperson of Arts & Culture Council for Greater Tzaneen Municipality in 2004 till 2008. Kenny had a privilege of travelling overseas to countries like USA, Britain and Australia to perform on several occasion

Kenny has served as a music director indifferent churches in Limpopo and it was during these times where he led a group of young enthusiastic musicians who later became house hold names. The ikes of the late Jay Hlungwani (singer) and Dlamani Mavangwa (bassist) are some of the artists that he contributed to the success in the music industry. Kenny is well known for his ability to train singers to sing like angels. His passion for vocal arrangements is evident in his debut album “Loko a humelela”. In 2003 the album also won a prestigious award for the Radio MLFM Gospel album of the year category. Talking about the stage, he has performed in many occasions/ gigs (Corporate, Government and Church Conferences). He has also shared the stage with other renowned artists locally, nationally and internationally.

In 2003 the company “To The Throne Music Productions” was born. This is the company that Kenny Shibambu proudly directs today. The label specialises in: Writing, Arranging, Recording, Publishing and Teaching Music In 2008, Kenny was approached by Manna TV to host a daily inspirational programme called “IT’S A NEW DAY”. The programme was about worship and the importance of starting each day with the right frame of mind.

Family

He is happily married to Valerie and they are blessed with three boys: Ntsako & Dzunisani and Matimba as well as two precious grandchildren (Naomi and Israel). Kenny strongly believes in family values and is against the abuse of women and children.

Education

So as to equip himself, he studied Music and Communication with the University of South Africa. Some of the courses that form part of his studies are Music Criticism, Music Entrepreneurship, Journalism and Ethnomusicology
